Sustainable Agriculture

NCHSE has implemented integrated water, soil and biodiversity conservation and sustainable agriculture projects under CSR funding support in the clusters of villages of Sehore, Dewas and Vidisha Districts of Madhya Pradesh to provide solution to the increasing environmental crisis like draught, flash floods etc. arising due to Climate Change and to improve the livelihood of the people. Interventions include:

  • • Integrated Development of Natural Resources through Watershed Management and Improved Sustainable Agricultural Practices;
  • • Adoption of water and soil conservation measures, including integrated water management practices to ensure availability of water for irrigation during the dry/Rabi season;
  • • Introduction of new technologies for improving soil moisture content and improved agricultural practices to facilitate efficient use of water and increasing agricultural productivity;
  • • Capacity building of farmers on Climate Smart Sustainable Agriculture Practices to promote adoption of technologies and practices that are environment friendly and appropriate to the changing climatic conditions;
  • • Capacity building of farmers to ensure operation and maintenance of the systems as well as environmental sustainability;
  • • Providing livelihood opportunities for the poor.

At present it is implementing CSR supported climate smart village development programme in 21 districts of Madhya Pradesh and Kota district of Rajasthan. Documentation of best practices and sharing the same with farmers and village communities has helped in adoption of environmental friendly practices elsewhere.
